The Kingdom Mindset: From Defence to Dominion

God’s original plan was not for mankind to escape the earth and simply go to heaven. He created the heavens and the earth, and then He created Adam and placed him on the earth. We see the mind and intention of God from the very beginning: God wanted mankind to exercise dominion on the earth.

Adam was created as a son of God and was given authority and responsibility over creation. The fall of Adam brought a spiritual disconnection, but God’s purpose for mankind did not change.

The Kingdom of God is not merely about where we will go one day. It is about God’s rule, authority and dominion being established through His people.

The Church must move from a defensive position to an offensive position. We cannot take territory while remaining inside our comfortable corners. “Move from defensive to offensive.”

Those who are going to take over must be willing to move beyond comfort, convenience and familiarity. There are prophetic instructions given to the Church. There are spiritual disciplines and patterns established in Scripture that enable believers to grow into spiritual maturity and authority. If we want to see territories taken, we must be prepared for the process.

The preparation is hard. Study those who have taken territory. Look at what the apostles did. They operated in power, sacrifice, prayer, fasting and the Word. And we must understand that God can take us beyond what previous generations experienced, according to the grace given to us.

The Word of God must become more than information. The Kingdom of God is not simply something we discuss, teach or theologise about.

1 Corinthians 4:20 — “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”

If lives are not changing, we must ask ourselves what we are carrying. If the Church has only programmes, meetings and words but no demonstration of Kingdom power, then something is missing. If lives are not changing, you are just funding tourism.

Jesus taught about the Kingdom, but He also demonstrated the Kingdom. The Gospel of the Kingdom must produce evidence.

Jesus taught the Kingdom. John preached the Kingdom. Paul preached the Kingdom. The parables of Jesus repeatedly revealed truths about the Kingdom. The Kingdom must therefore become central to the Church’s message.

Matthew 24:14 — “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

The message is not merely the gospel of healing, the gospel of deliverance or the gospel of prosperity. These are expressions of God’s power, but the overarching message is the Gospel of the Kingdom.

The Kingdom must be preached to all the world. If the Church is not preaching the Kingdom, we are delaying the assignment.

Everything operates by power. Even natural systems require power to function. In the same way, the Church cannot operate effectively without spiritual power. The power of the Church is through the Holy Spirit.

Theologians may know the Word, but knowing the Word intellectually is not the same as walking in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Word must flow through power.

We must ask ourselves: How much are we praying? How much are we fasting? How much are we seeking God? How much are we growing spiritually? Are we carrying power?

The spiritual realm can recognise whether a person or church is operating in spiritual authority. We cannot simply play church.

There are spiritual patterns and exercises that every believer must grow through. We must outgrow certain spiritual levels.

Isaiah 10:27 — “And the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

Do not always wait for another man or woman of God to break every yoke for you. There must come a point where you grow in God and grow in the anointing you carry. The greater the spiritual capacity, the greater the responsibility.

Grow. Pray. Fast. Study the Word. Walk in holiness. Build spiritual strength.

Our power is not simply for personal comfort. It is for Kingdom advancement. We are called to make a difference. We are called to confront darkness. We are called to establish God’s purposes. We are called to take territory.

Isaiah 45:1–4 speaks of God taking hold of the right hand of Cyrus, subduing nations and opening gates before him. Cyrus did not even know God in the way God’s people did, yet God used him for His purposes.

God can use anybody. The question is not simply whether God can use you. The question is: What has God anointed you to do?

Kingdom authority cannot be separated from Kingdom character. We cannot claim Kingdom power while deliberately living contrary to the King. Sin, adultery, disorder, selfish ambition and pursuing personal agendas damage Kingdom purpose.

Those entrusted with ministry have been given charge over people. We must handle that responsibility wisely. God sees everything. Sometimes judgement appears delayed, but delay is not ignorance. God knows what is happening.

Romans 1:4 teaches that Christ was declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness. Power and holiness belong together. The Church must not pursue power while neglecting character.

When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He directed their attention toward the Kingdom: “Thy Kingdom come.” The prayer is not primarily about making ourselves comfortable. It is about God’s will being established.

When we pray Kingdom prayers, our perspective changes. We stop asking only, “What can God do for me?” and begin asking, “What does God want to establish through me?”

When the Kingdom becomes the priority, provision follows God’s purposes. Do not worry about the name of the church or personal recognition. Seek the Kingdom.

Fasting must also become Kingdom-centred. Do not fast only for yourself. Do not make every spiritual discipline about personal benefit.

Pray — Kingdom. Fast — Kingdom. Give — Kingdom.

When you sacrifice something for the Kingdom, the King knows how to take care of His people. Our spiritual disciplines must be connected to God’s purposes.

We fight against spiritual powers. Therefore, establish an altar of prayer. Build consistency in the presence of God. Become known in the spirit for carrying God’s presence and authority.

The purpose is not to glorify ourselves. The purpose is that darkness encounters the authority of God through His people.

The armour of God contains defensive elements, but the believer is not called to remain permanently defensive. The sword is in our hands. We have spiritual weapons. The Church must learn how to use what God has already placed in our hands.

We cannot take territory while constantly retreating. If you are not offensive, someone will snatch. The Kingdom requires courage, discipline, spiritual intelligence and action.

The Spirit of holiness works within us. The believer must learn to walk with the Holy Spirit and respond to His correction. We are not given permission to deliberately live in sin because we have an Advocate.

But when a believer genuinely falls short, Christ is our Advocate. The answer is not condemnation. The answer is repentance, restoration and growth. We must continue growing into spiritual maturity.

The Church must stop measuring success merely by attendance, buildings, programmes, titles, conferences, activities or financial provision.

The question is: Is the Kingdom advancing? Are lives changing? Are families changing? Are communities changing? Are territories being transformed? Is darkness being pushed back? Are people encountering Christ? Is the power of the Holy Spirit being demonstrated? Are we producing disciples who carry the Kingdom?

Move from defence to offence. Move from information to revelation. Move from words to power. Move from church activity to Kingdom advancement. Move from self-centred prayer to Kingdom prayer. Move from occasional fasting to Kingdom sacrifice. Move from waiting for someone else to break every yoke to growing in the anointing God has given you.

The Church has been given weapons. The Church has been given authority. The Church has been given the Holy Spirit. The Church has been given the Gospel of the Kingdom. Therefore, rise, grow, advance and take territory for the King.
